Public Meetings

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners meets for a Work Session on the last Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm in the Justice Center located at 7085 Georgia Hwy 145, Carnesville, GA 30521. In the event of a holiday conflict the Work Session will be determined by the Board of Commissioners. Then it will be announced in the media and on our website.

The Board meets for the Regular Board Meeting on the first Monday of each month at 6:00 pm in the Justice Center located at 7085 Georgia Hwy 145, Carnesville, GA 30521.In the event of a holiday conflict the Work Session will be determined by the Board of Commissioners. Both sessions are open to the public and are encouraged to attend.

Agendas for the meetings will be available online no later than 4:30 pm on the Friday prior to the meeting.

If you would like to be placed on the agenda in order to speak at a meeting here are the procedures:

One week prior to the meeting date send the county clerk a request in writing to be on the agenda. The request should have the requestor’s name as well as the reason to be on the agenda. The request can come by email; letter; fax or in person as long as it is in writing. Click here for a link to the sign up sheet. Direct the request to:

If you would like to sign up to speak at the next Franklin County Board of Commissions meeting, please fill out our sign-up form to sign up sheet and return the completed form to the County Clerk at least 5 business days prior to the next board meeting.

All members of the public who wish to address the board must submit their name and the topic of their comments to the county commission at least 5 business days before the scheduled board meeting. Individuals will be allotted 5 minutes to make their comments and comments must be limited to the individuals chosen topic.

Members of the public shall not make inappropriate or offensive comments at a board meeting and are expected to comply with the rules of decorum that are established for the commissioners. An individual who violates the rules of decorum may be removed from the meeting at the direction of the chairman.
